Hypnos is the Greek god of sleep, son of Nyx - the goddess of night, younger twin brother of Thanatos - the god of Death, and sibling to a couple more deities of the negative inclination. He rules over the realm of sleep and dreams (though he's mostly supposed to leave it to Morpheus, Icelus and Phantasus), and he often accompanies his brother when he's Reaping.
As all gods are, he is immortal. He has the power to weave illusions (as he is the creator of dreams) and no-one, god or mortal, supernatural or ordinary, is immune when he casts the veil of sleep. One could say that he is the Mage of the pair - any kind of spell that he casts has greater power than an Assistant's (e.g., Elizabeth, or Margaret). He will not engage in battle, though, unless his brother is directly involved.
He is incredibly devoted to his twin brother, and more often than not will imitate him; what Thanatos will do, or will have, he will do the same thing. He will follow Death until the ends of the earth and beyond. That Pandora's Box incident cemented the fact that Hypnos will never leave his brother alone for more than seven mortal nights. He understands that sometimes their jobs take them apart, and he's made a compromise with himself that he'd give Thanatos space, but there is a certain link between them that informs him if Thanatos is in danger. Of course, seeing that he's Death, there's nothing to be worried about - but ever since his brother manifested a corporeal form, Hypnos has been worrying about the state of that.
He doesn't actually cling to Thanatos, but he is there, don't worry. They can summon each other instantly. But if Death gets into trouble because he is a natural Derp, Hypnos prefers that his older twin learn things the hard way.
Ironically, Thanatos is more friendly to mortals - Hypnos is more like 'whatever' towards the little buggers, but he is especially averse to humans. Demons and other supernatural (but mortal) beings are not hated as much. Hypnos always comes off as a little aloof (because he mostly throws people Looks and sighs), and he speaks much more formally than his brother.
He takes form of a Minato in his late teens (unlike his brother, thus making him look smaller and younger :D ) and he usually goes around wearing an oversized white dress shirt and an untied ribbon. Pants - he doesn't like wearing them, but if you point it out he'll change into an all-white suit. He has wings attached to his temples, which are the manifestation of his powers. They're very sensitive and touching them will almost inevitably result in him losing his composure and flailing until you let them go.
Other things that may be of interest:
† He has a great deal of space inside his sleeves, much like Thanatos' Coat of Holding. He just likes storing his blankets and pillows in them - his clothes and other stuff are found in his brother's coat.
† He can dreamwalk.
† He preferred method of transportation over long distances is shifting in and out of space. Over short distances, he just likes to float.
† He may be a lineface, but his headwings twitch slightly whenever he feels something particularly strongly.
† He is the god of sleep, and he's like a cat when it comes to his naps. When he doesn't want to be awakened, it can be very hard to wake him up. He can and will fall asleep anywhere, especially on Ryojis.
† Anyone who drinks coffee or does anything to prevent sleep will earn anything from a disgusted Look to a slap in the face from Hypnos. B|
† He may recognise supernatural beings.
